Maybe you can share a little what the application does so that I could try to recreate it on my own without the program?

I have no idea what the program does. I only know that it works. If you are up for it, you should download the program and see if you can figure out what it exactly does.

hmmm...this does work on a friend's s10 after a couple of tries....now if only it will work on my s10e :| .
I wonder when...or even if someone can figure out a fix for s10e, it sure would be nice to have the f11 working again.

It recreates the Lenovo HPA and re-writes the MBR. So if you have installed Linux then for sure it has broken the MBR, unless you use GRUB4DOS... If you have experience with HPA partitions and Master boot records then it should be easy, you can even use my tools if you install GRUB4DOS and configure after my tool is run!

If you still have questions pm me and I will try to point you in the right direction...

Take care,

Re: HDD swap and OKR (SOLUTION!!!)

Has anyone tried this on s10-3t and succeed?

Jwrightmcps wrote:After much trouble and hair-pulling I have finally made a solution for repairing the OneKey Recovery Button and partition (think old-school IBM HPA guys and gals)! This utility will allow you to create a bootable USB key, once the key is created just insert it into your ideapad and boot from it (Power-on, press F12 and select USB key). After it boots into DOS just type "setup" and press enter. After the update completes shutdown the system, remove the USB key and enjoy your OneKey Recovery button again :)

A few notes:

1) For this tool to work correctly you must have the original recovery partition on your drive (can be ghost copy for those that installed an upgrade drive and copied all partitions to their new drive).

2) If you have your recovery partition id set to anything other than "12" please change it back to "12" otherwise the button will not work. You can use many tools to do this, but the most popular (and free) is "PTEDIT32.EXE", just Google it to find a copy.

3) I have also included a tool to delete the OneKey Recovery partition and the HPA data (USE WITH CAUTION!). To delete the OneKey Recovery partition just type "delete" and press enter.

4) I take no responsibility for any data loss or damage that may occur while using this utility.

5) You may pass this utility to anyone that you wish, however you MUST provide it as freeware and not charge a fee of any kind! I don't want anyone profiting in any way from this utility or its use.

Happy computing everyone!

P.S. Please spread the word and post this anywhere that might help others with the OneKey Recovery Button, thanks...

P.P.S If that guy from e-bay is reading this (you know the one that is selling this as a service and not sharing with the poor users) I told you that I would figure it out and post it everywhere for free, so I hope you enjoyed your run while it lasted... However no hard feelings as I always enjoy a good challenge

Okay, I confirm that it worked for my s10-3t. :)

One thing I would like to share here is about changing the partition ID number of the drive LENOVO_PART. PTEDIT32.exe did not work for my computer. So I looked into another software: Partition Wizard. At first, it did not work when I tried to change the ID directly fro 07 to 12. Later I figured out that the correct way was: first change the drive to "hidden", which would change the ID to 17, then change then the ID from 17 to 12.

(I also did something stupid: removed the label of the drive, and had to put it back later. So if the name of your drive is not LENOVO_PART, you should definitely change it back.)

These are my 2c. Hope it helps.

That's good to know. Probably safe to say this will work with all the S10 models.

Not sure, but I don't see why you shouldn't give it a try. If this method works, it won't matter how your partitions are arranged.
