MeeGo? Possible for the S10?

http://meego.com/devices/netbook

So have we heard of MeeGo?
I must admit Im not that experienced in Linux.. if at all. I like the look of this OS.
It has a download page, but I dont understand where to go from there..

Is this OS freely available/distributable?
Or is this OS something that will be manufacturer specific?

OK.. Ive been out of the Linux loop for a year or two now..
Looks like Moblin is the go... Seems that MeeGo is just Nokias version of Moblin.

Intel and Nokia joined forces to create a Linux based mobile OS. Nokia already had Maemo and Intel had Moblin.

MeeGo is the new joint offering. It is not ready yet, I think all they have on offer at the moment is source code and a base CLI image for atom architecture. You would have to be a bit of a Linux Guru, or a programmer to sort through that!

As far as I have made out (from following it on Slashdot et al) the netbook interface will use clutter and be very similar to Moblins, probably where the confusion arose.

I will be trying this out as soon as it is available. Moblin was a bit of a let down in my opinion though. Check the search function for old threads on the matter.

If this is the derivative of Moblin then it might not be a good idea for me. I tried Moblin and it does not detect my USB 3G modem and I was not able to find a way to do it. Pretty fast though.

I'll try MeeGo and see if it is any better.

Hopefully with Nokia's input and expertise in mobiles, your 3G modem will be recognised. Let us know how you get on.
