The S netbook is NOT an Apple product and was never intended to run Mac OSX. Fortunately, enthusiasts have found ways to make OSX run on our netbook. However, the process may not be smooth for some. Make sure you have patience and time to get it to run. Most importantly, motivation to read and learn. This forum contains enough information to get OSX running. Sleep Mode S10-2 and screen problem

Postby danielnavarro » Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:36 pm

Hi everybody! Recently I purchased a Black Lenovo S10-2. Everything is ok but 2 things makes me crazy.

1- The sleep mode...i searched all over the internet and i cant solve the problem...wich drives me to the next problem
2- The external display. I want to work only with a 23 Samsung Display, no extended, no clone one, only the external Display.

I read from Apple Site that mac´s need to get sleep (closing the screen from the laptop) with a mouse and keyboard connected. The you wake up them with the mouse and the screen shows you the total desktop in the external one.

How the hell can i do that? Please help me! Leaving the tools and menu on the 10 inch screen is horrible and stupid! Why mac doesnt work like pcs in that matter? it´s really stupid.

Try the fixes in this thread:
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/general-mac-os-x-discussion/19771-mini-10v-external-screen-wakeup-sleep.html

You don't state whether you used Meklort's NBI or Vanii's S10Enabler to install.
If not NBI, then go download the sources for NBI and look in the folder SupportFiles/machine/General/ExtraFiles/bin

You probably need to get standard sleep working first, there are notes on how to achieve that on this forum if it's not working for you having used one of the installers. 99% of time it's related to USB stuff (BIOS settings/DSDT fixes).

You'd better go back to windows because mac is so stupid.

Indeed. Or spend a bit more for a real Mac.

After all, no matter how good you get a hack set up, it's never gonna be as good as the real thing.

As SJ sort of said, Apple don't know how to make a great user experience with netbook style product+10" screen; could be because the obvious limitations just prevent making a truly great product. (iPad is a totally different value proposition, so small screen not an issue etc, just like iPhone).

Having said that, once set up, S10, Dell 10 (or 311 etc) are pretty darn good when you consider it.

Try switchresX. it will allow you to dis/enable any screen connect, switch main and secondary screen, etc.
By the way you can arange Monitors in the preferencepanel for monitors. There you can also drag the menubar to your main screen!!!. (Point click and drag)

The ability to read gives you a great advantage!!!!! (try help or google mainscreen + mac etc. or buy a book)

This is stupid, why is everybody trying OSX and is not able to spend some time reading online help or manuals.
Everybody tries their "wellknown" windows ways. This is not Windows.
UNIX is user-friendly! It's just very choosy about who its friends are, and even best friends fight sometimes.
