Problems with Open Office SJW

I just installed Ubuntu 9.04 remix on my S10-2. It did not come with open office, so I used the "add" program feature to install the word processor, presentation, database, and spread sheet programs. When I call each one up, the programs starts and then displays a document recovery screen. When I close it, the program stops. Any fixes for this?

Problem found. Seems like the download location I used for UNR decided to give me a file containing some new variant of Ubuntu that still had bugs. It was a 64 bit version of a laptop OS. Nice user interface, but not overly useful.
