Ubuntu Netbook Remix - New Theme?

This is starting to really get on my tits.. this is my first experience of linux and im really enjoying it apart form the bloody awful colours of this theme.. the other themes that come with it are crap as well.. when i try to download other themes they dont work.

Anybody know where to get themes for this remix?

Or does the desktop version run fine on the netbook and i just download that?

As far as I know there are not more themes for the Netbook Remix. However, when you install NBR you have the option to use the standard desktop, which comes with several themes and you can download more themes for. Here is how to switch to it.

In NBR go to 'Preferences'

Then go to 'Switch Desktop Mode'

Switch to "Classic Desktop Mode' (or whatever the opposite of NBR is).

To switch themes:

Go to the top menu to the System menu, go to Sreferences, then Appearance.

It will be a desktop experience but it will allow you to change themes... the ones it comes with are great I think.

Well i wiped my hard drive and installed the desktop version of Ubuntu on my netbook... all i can say is that its fully customizable and i personally think i get a better performance from it!

The Phil, how much space does the install of the desktop version take on your hard drive ?

apart from that, id really like to know why you think that the desktop version fits you better.
im just thinking about which distro to install...

MacWarrior, just a data point...I put the Netbook Remix on today just to see it. I used the instructions Ubuntu provided to load it from a 1GB USB Flash drive. It was very easy to install and everything seems to work. It also feels very quick. I didn't get a chance to play with it very much yet though. By the way...I thought the theme look pretty good.

Ha Ha apologies macwarrior/jimjar completely forgot. Also cant find out where im supposed to look! Bit of a noob with linux..

As i said before The Remix isn't very customizable as in for themes etc.. This is partly why i wanted linux so i can make the look of it exactly how i wanted but with the rmix it was impossible.. it also prob comes down to personal preference but i also hated the orange/brown colour scheme and the few alternatives weren't much better. With the desktop version its fully customizable and mine now looks a cross between linux and a mac.

Performance wise i also seemed to find the desktop version a bit quicker. On boot times and on general application boot times.

If u like the netbook remix theme fair enough and it prob does come down to personal taste but i didn't.

OK the footprint seems to be 10-15 GB..i think... as soon as i installed it i put movies, music etc. on so this is a guess.
