Trackpad functionality (s10e)

Postby valmar » Tue May 26, 2009 2:12 am

Dear All,

I just installed Jaunty. The S10e has a Synaptics trackpad. However, out of the box I only get tap-to-click and vertical scroll bar, without any way to tap-to-right-click. Is this normal, or the trackpad should have more functionality?

I read on the web that several people seem to be enabling multitouch using fdi files in hal, but this does not work for me, even if I follow their tutorial. What would be interesting form me is the tap-to-right-click: it is the only thing for which I still use the physical button. Anyone knows how to activate it somehow?

Multitouch would be perfect (with two-finger scroll), but tap-to-right-click would be excellent also!

This is the output of synclient -l:

As you can see, the two finger scrolling, for example, seems to be set to on, but it does not work. Anyone is experiencing the same?

What I like to use is the accessibility option for "Trigger secondary click by holding down primary button"

System -> Preferences -> Mouse -> Accessibility

With this you just double tap and hold and it will do a right-click for you. This way you don't have to waste valuable trackpad realestate for a tap to right-click.
