Look here if built-in mic doesn't work under Ubuntu 9.04

First i would like to say thanks for this very cool site)

Well. I bought my s10 with pre-installed WinXP sp3. But today i finally bought a new HDD and decided to install UNR 9.04. First moments everything seemed excellent. But after installing Skype i was faced a problem - built-in microphone doesn't work.

If you also have this problem - just follow next steps:

1. console -> sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
2. add new line to the end of file: options snd-hda-intel model=basic
3. save, close and reboot system.

After that microphone on my laptop works great.

Important! With just restarting alsa you will no see result. This mistake took about 2 hours of my time =D
