ubuntu netbook remix 9.04 on s9e

Postby cryptozoologist » Mon May 11, 2009 1:26 pm

hi all,
i just wanted to report that ubuntu netbook remix 9.04 installed very painlessly on my s9e. everything seems to work. much much better than the suse that it shipped with. if you are thinking about it, go for it! you will have more space on your ssd when the suse 'failsafe' components are wiped out. the suse had 973 meg free and the ubuntu has 1.3 gig free and i like it much much better.

peace

I'll report similar results on the S10. I've got both openSuse and UNR 9.04, and UNR is definitely snappier and worked more cleanly out of the box. That's a first for me, I've always ditched Ubuntu for openSuse because it took too much tweaking to get Ubuntu running on my other machines. (I know, that's half the fun of Linux, but I've got too many other hobbies.)

UNR also installs from a USB key with no problem, just by following the directions at Canonical's website.
