I've been playing with it for a few days now on my S-10. Everything seems to work pretty well, a few little bugs here and there but no show-stoppers.

The wireless is like most previous versions where you need an ethernet connection to download the broadcom STA drivers before it will work. The wireless widget works fine with the WPA2 enterprise connection at work, but at home (WPA2 personal) the icon is an exclamation point even though the connection works fine.

The boot manager works fine with my existing quad-boot config (10.6, 7, XP & Linux). On my new (cheap) Kingston SSD it boots from GRUB2 to the desktop in ~10 seconds which is pretty nice, still working on other optimizations.

Installation was as easy as usual. Ubuntu is installed on usb external drive.

As James000 wrote, for installing wireless you need ethernet first, to load the broadcom driver.

Boot process with grub2 is very quick.

New program manager makes installations of additinal programs very easy.

No problems so far.

I actually just installed it Persistent mode on USB key from 9.10. So far, I like it. It's about what you would expect from a newer version release. I can't wait to give Fedora 13 a go when it comes out too.

Oh, that's right - now that 10.04 is out that means Linux Mint 9 will be out soon!

(Checking. . . .)

Ah, RC was released today. Oh well, any time now! :)

I'm pretty new to Linux flavors, I take it Mint is in the Linux line-up? Also how does it compare to Ubuntu?

I like to look at Mint as an optimized and cleaned-up version of Ubuntu. I used Mint 7 for quite a while on my Lenovo, looking forward to playing with Mint 9 when it is released.

Hello!
I have installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my S10-3 from a usb drive. In the beginning the wifi radio was working by just flicking on the hardware switch on the LHS of the S10. However, at the time i had not set up my router (the service was dormant and wrongly configured). I also played around with the FN and the key that depicts the netbook wireless on/off (toggle). I think it was Bluetooth or wi-fi. I am not sure.

Thence i did regular updates using the Update manger of UNR.

Now after configuration of the router i use an ethernet (wired) port to connect to the internet. Even toggling the h/w switch and playing around with the FN+wireless key combo does not kick in the wifi radio. I know this because the white LED for the wifi at the LED bank does not light up, whilst it used to earlier.

So i did the next logical thing, which is use the Hardware Manager / Updater (not sure of the exact name) and switched on the wifi h/w switch but it was not registered and the program came up with a blank list.

So what should i do?

Thanks in advance for you inputs!
Kaizer.
