Install Win 7 over XP on S10e with Splashtop

I have an Ideapad S10e with 2gb memory and 40gb of free space on the hard drive. I would like to ask assistance on installing Windows 7 over XP without taking of Splashtop.

1. Can I copy my Windows 7 installer on C:\Windows7 and run setup.exe from there?
2. I read that it is better to have a clean install than in-place upgrade. Would my 40gb free space be sufficient?
3. Will the whole operation affect the Splashtop as still want to dual boot with Linux which came with the unit and I don't want to go through the hassle of re-imaging my drive.
4. Lastly, I still want to make sure I can use F11 to recover everything back to factory default.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I also have S10e with 2GB RAM. I've installed Win 7 a few days ago.

1. You can try. I installed it by copying the files to an external hard drive and running the setup from there. No problems there, except every time the computer restarted I had to be there to manually skip over Splashtop (maybe you wouldn't have to if you turned it off beforehand in BIOS?).

3. My Splashtop is still there after the installation. The control program is probably gone, though. I didn't look, I simply deleted the Windows.old folder after the install and re-installed all the programs I needed using Ninite (automatically installs software for you opting out on all extra toolbars and such). I don't use Splashtop, so I had to turn it off in BIOS. The option to continue to Win after a certain amount of time was also there.

4. I don't know if the recovery data is still there somewhere, but the OKR button doesn't work anymore. It now changes power schemes.
