after you make the changes to the plist file located here: /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBEHCI.kext/Contents/, reinstall the AppleUSBEHCI kext, and then follow the rest of the directions.

Does anybody know how to install OS X without external DVD drive? I have 4GB flash and external sata HDD, I've tried to use sata-to-usb connector from external HDD with usual 5.25 DVD drive, my S10 found it, but it seems that there is lack of power for him... How can I create USB installer for OS X?

How can I reinstall AppleUSBEHCI kext, if it is inside another kext? Should I reinstall IOUSBFamily.kext using ktexthelper?

Once done, it'll restart... and you'll probably end up getting a HFS+ partition error upon boot like me. If you don’t, just skip to the bottom, otherwise read on

Kill the computer and start it while tapping F12 and boot the DVD install disk again. It’ll go through its whole sequence and once you get to the OSX installer, select Utilities > Terminal from the bar at the top.

===============================================
I replace the 512 RAM with a 2G ram , then installed the OS X without the HFS+partition error mentioned above, and there is no need of those fdisk and "boot with -s" stuff. it is simple a normalized process just the same as that on a real mac. BTW, I wiped the orignial lenovo_xp and installed only OS X 10.5.5 with the MSIOSX distro image from a 4GB SSD USB stick.

yeah, the same goes for me - didn't have any problems installing OSX on my S10e, with dualbooting XP. But, I guess I came clean as I'd already used gparted to wipe my entire disk  , had some problems setting up a tripple boot with XP, Win7 and OSX ;) Any ideas, tips or experience reports are most welcomed as I'd like to use all three OS's...

Also, I've installed the kexts that Zaid mentions - I know have fully working fans and sleep function :D As this is my first time using OSX I'm on a steep climb, any tips on good "OSX newbie" sites?

Some unresolved issues I could use some help with:
1.How do I get the (damn) menu bar to auto hide, the menu bar steals precious screen space?
2.How can I map my Windows keys to act like the Apple ones?
3.How do I get the battery meter to function so that it displays the correct battery reserve? Now it says 0% no matter what...

I have brightness control using the fn key working under the msiwindosx86 distro now! I want to add that these kexts also fixed the green screen issue I was having with photobooth. Icing on the cake. :D

Just install these two kexts with kext helper and reboot:

1. Apple -> System Prefs -> Dock ->Automatically hide and show the dock
2. No idea
3. Did you remember to install AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext from miglos pack?

thank you Zaid, but I think you misunderstood me ;) By the menu bar I mean the "actual" menu bar at the top of the screen, not the dock ( that one was selected as "hidden" after two seconds after my initial boot up :D )

I do think I installed the AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext, but I make sure by reinstalling it... hopefully it'll work, as it is now I have a battery meter but it says 0% all the time :?

1 - There are some programs that do the trick, personally I don't recommended any. Try osx.iusethis.com. However, many mac applications have a full screen option that hide the menu bar completely.
2 - Apple -> System prefs -> Keyboard & mouse -> modifier keys. You shold map option key to command and vice versa. After that the windows key will act like the apple command key.
3 - Since my first installation I have no problem with my battery metter that works like it should on a regular mac. Thus, I presume, I have AppleACPIBatteryManager.kext installed.
