The S netbook is NOT an Apple product and was never intended to run Mac OSX. Fortunately, enthusiasts have found ways to make OSX run on our netbook. However, the process may not be smooth for some. Make sure you have patience and time to get it to run. Most importantly, motivation to read and learn. This forum contains enough information to get OSX running. Most problems you may encounter can be solved just by reading through the forums or searching. So please take the time and read through the forums!

I have finally solved the problem and am able to boot up properly with all but wifi working now. :D

I will post my method soon but probably in a new thread because I had to take a very different approach to get everything working properly and I don't want to have any confusion.

Here is the alternate method that I used. Hopefully it will help some more people get their S10-3 running OSX. :)

Rubensszm or other dear guys,

Do you know whether this method works for my new IdeaPad S10-3c (Atom N455)? As I seem to have a error of "unknown cpu model" during the early stage of installation of SL 10.6.

Please kindly confirm, thanks.

Regards,
Golden

@goldenchan I don't know how many hardware differences there are between the S10-3 and the S10-3c, but at least superficially it doesn't look much different. My S10-3 has an Atom N455 processor, so at least the processor should work.

Hi. Please make a image of your partition with MACOS. For example True Image Home. Forgive for my English :D

Hello all... S10 n00b here... :)

Anyway, as the proud owner of a brand new S10-3, I thought I'd have a go at Hackintoshing it. I actually used the Enabler method, and it *almost* all works. It took a while to install, and then claimed that installation failed - I restarted and it booted straight into OS X! The only problem I encountered was that the battery had to be removed or you got a kernel panic during installation.

All I can see that's not quite working properly on it is the wi-fi (I've ordered a USB wi-fi dongle to take care of that), the sleep mode, and, for some reason, the graphics seem very slow, despite stuff like the brightness control working - for instance, rolling over the dock with magnification on slows the whole machine down badly. Other stuff like the keyboard, trackpad, sound, Ethernet, etc all work just fine.

Any sign of any fixes/patches for any of these outstanding issues?

What graphics card does the S10-3 have? Is it a GMA950 as in the S10(e)?
And is the menu bar on top of your screen translucent, or solid grey?

If it is solid grey it's maybe because of the lack of graphics drivers what may cause the poor graphics performance on your machine ;)
