Re: S10 Snow Leopard Enabler 1.1.17

Some observations that I wish to share.

Tried to update to 10.6.8 with SL 1.1.18 and just by adding the pMVersion but not doing anything with sleepenabler. Rebooted and got stuck at a screen saying power up in several languages. Has anyone observed this and how was this resolved. Does one have to remove sleepenable to install 10.6.8? Any suggestions?

I had to do a restart with a new install. I could make it work - reinstalled 10.6.3 with SL1.1.17 on the same previous partition. I had to remove the partition, recreate a new one and then I was able to install it.

Previously I had 10.6.6 with SL1.1.8. I downloaded the 10.6.6 combo as the software update would offer only 10.6.8. Tried installing 10.6.6 but it kept on failing, Re downloaded 10.6.6 again and it installed fine. I am not sure I wish to install 10.6.8 as 10.6.6 is working fine.

any help would be appreciated for us who would like to install 10.6.8 with the latest enabler

especially step by step guide    thanks

i'm just curious, do we have to remove the sleepenabler.kext, and replace with which version? we might get kernel panic if it's not compatible

Here a working step-by-step-list for S10-2:

1. Load 10.6.8 Combo Update from Website, load Enabler 1.1.17, load Kexthelper b7, load OSX86Tools (search for them), load _DisableSleep.kext http://s10lenovo.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3622
2. Execute Update => don't restart, minimize to dock
3. Execute Enabler 1.1.17 => don't restart, minimize to dock
4. System/Library/Extensions: Delete _Sleepenabler.kext
5. Execute Kexthelper b7, drag _DisableSleep.kext into it, run it, finish program => it hangs => keep it hanging
6. Drag Extra/com.Apple.boot.plist to desktop => open, in line "…i386" add " pmVersion=23" behind it => save => copy back to /Extra => identify
7. Open OSX86Tools => Clear all caches (check all boxes in the middle left but the first, check the first box in the middle right) => run => finish
8. CMD - ALT - ESC => finish kext helper now => click on restart on one or both of the installs (Enabler and / or Combo Update)
9. Be happy!

Greetz, Klaus Rudi

will this method work on the S10 classic model? thanks

As I don't have other s10 models, I cannot guarantee that.
But I don't see any reason why it should not: S10-2 has some limitations with standby due to lack of drivers in the enabler, while the other models don't have.

Ask and you shall receive. http://flynflip.com/bbforum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=46 I read this forum for hours trying to get 10.6.8 installed. I succeeded and made a step by step guide on my forum. I check the flynflip forum daily if you have questions, but I will periodically check here for comments, suggestions, and questions. I don't mean to take away from this forum as it is valuable and much appreciated.

My S10 is the classic model so it should work for you guys asking questions lately. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Can you not press F8 at boot and get to chameleon boot screen, choose windows and boot to it? Glad to hear you got it working. Gonna look at your method to see about that camera. Like I said I don't need it, but it's always nice for everything to work. To verify, you are at 10.6.8? Did you use 1.1.17 or 1.1.18 enabler? Let me know about your Windows situation. Don't reinstall just yet...

I cannot delete _SleepEnabler.kext no matter what I try! The CMD+Backspace or Right click > Move to trash won't or (in Terminal) rm -f /System/Library/Extensions/_SleepEnabler.kext... nothing works! Please help. It is in S/L/E/ correct?

I was wondering if its possible to convert the s10 into a bigger screen laptop?
Its a little small macbook for my taste. Anyone has an idea how I can maybe transfer the hardware into a 12/14/15 inch machine and get a big mac laptop?

Also what RAM should i buy for upgrade?
How much does snow leopard recognize?
