Video Step by Step for OSX install

Postby derekromaine » Tue Feb 03, 2009 1:05 am

I figured for a lot of the noobs trying to install OSX on their Lenovo, reading step by step instructions might be a little difficult. It might be easier watching and following really nice videos. These were just posted on youtube, and are by far the easiest to follow for installing OSX on your Lenovo with a flash drive.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNSW88uXKh4 that is part 1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtlivuKr9sY and that is part 2.

I hope this helps some people, it definitely helped me. Please post with comments or any updates not covered in the videos.

Great work. My Lenovo runs since 3 weeks without any problems.
For Mic/Audio I use sometimes a wireless USB Logitech Headset without any problems.
Ethernet will work with Apple Ethernet over USB Adapter. (in case you need it)
I have installed also a Trackpad Utility for the system preferences, so I can adjust my trackpad.
The following movie shows Lenovo S10 in action: http://www.gewichtsinfo.ch/movies/Show_Lenovo_Final.mov

Thanks, that video is amazing. What trackpad utility did you install? Is that working with 10.5.6? If so, nice work. The mic and ethernet, aren't deal breakers for me. Hopefully someone figures out the correct kexts or install for the mic, and I use wireless, so ethernet is worthless anyway. :D

He loses me almost immediately. In the command window diskpart/list disk I cannot discover either one of three things I've tried - 4Gb Micro HD, 1Gb flash thumb drive or 1Gb SD card. "List disk" just won't see my drives!

I can go to Control Panel/Sys-Admin/Comp Management/Storage/Disk Management and see these disks but they are all FAT formatted and it doesn't allow me to change that there. I reformatted the 4Gb Micro HD to DOS on my Mac, but it's still a FAT drive.

Don't know if formatting makes any difference, but I'm stuck on this part already. :?

haha no, you will be formatting with your mac. He tells you that he does that because he has a specific flash drive.

DOH - well, he did say *everyone should do this..."

Now on to the next stopping point - the WINDos86.iso file he says you need in the side notes is not well liked by search engines - is it possible he meant to type WINDosx86.iso ?

Yes, that is the one...You need to get the iso on your flash drive with disk utility...I had to install the old osx86 tools, because the new one did not install the EFI correctly...but one thing at a time. You need to get the .iso first. :D
