The S netbook is NOT an Apple product and was never intended to run Mac OSX. Fortunately, enthusiasts have found ways to make OSX run on our netbook. However, the process may not be smooth for some. Make sure you have patience and time to get it to run. Most importantly, motivation to read and learn. This forum contains enough information to get OSX running. Just did the install last night, and had a permissions problem when editing the .plist. I changed permissions manually, made the edit, and then had to repair permissions to get the kexts to load properly.

Now the computer does boot without any errors or obvious problems, but USB does not work. System profile does not shows four hubs but no USB devices, although the keyboard and mouse still do work (after install of drivers to update 10.5.6.). I can't get an external DVD drive to connect, and there is no evidence of keyboard, mouse, or webcam in System profile.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

Great guide. Almost everything is working for me now.

I followed your guide four times (four re-formats and re-installs) and I cannot get sleep to work. Everything else works great though. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Very simple mistake.. I'm really not sure how I did it four times.
I was editing the file in /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/ and not /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleUSBEHCI.kext/Contents/

Oh well, at least it is sleeping now. :D

I just finally got sleep working, if you're not having luck getting your S10 to sleep then log in as root and follow the directions at the bottom of the original post to clear the extensions cache. Then restart (or at least I did) and again log in as root, install the EHCISleepEnabler.kext and ClamShellDisplay kext, reboot. I also edited the Plist as mentioned in the original post. (Apparently it's not necessary for everyone?)

I guess this is my first post on here, but I just wanted to say a big thank you to the original poster for the sleep enabler suggestions. It's nice to not have to shutdown every and boot up every time I need to put my computer away to dash to my next class.

Thanks for the update and feedback. I will add your instructions to the original ones and update the first post. It never hurts to manually clear the caches, and if it saves just one install...

Yes I get that.. Not a huge deal but it would be nice if it did not do that.

Also the left arrow seems to be pressed down too.. These are both fixed by just pressing the zero and the left arrow after it comes out of sleep.
