Does your S10-2 has the N280 CPU with 1,66 Ghz or the N270 with 1,6 Ghz?
I could only get the N280 Version and i'm not sure if that version would work with the guides here...

Yes. The DellEFI works perfectly. I've installed it a few times over the last couple of weeks while I've been experimenting with my s10-2. Now, some of the kexts don't match up to my hardware, but you can replace them with working ones. The only features not working are sleep, ethernet, and webcam.

Thanks ! Glad to hear it, my arrives in 8 days, will back it up and try away...

I installed OSX using the MSIWind distro and using chamelion 1.0.4 to make the drive bootable. I am able to sucesssfully install and lauanch OSX on the s10-2, however my usb ports do not work.

Any thoughts?

I've got mine running with iDeneb 1.4 and updated to 10.5.7.

A few gotchas:
Reboot loop.
<string>cpus=1</string>
in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist file

After installing GMA950, I get white screen with garbage on boot.
delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelGMA950.kext

Good:
-wifi
-keyboard
-trackpad

Bad:
-sleep - appears to go to sleep fine, reboots on open (tried editing deep info.plist, no joy)
-sound appears to work with drivers installed, but no sound actually comes out.
-doesn't seem to know it's running on battery.

Ugly:
Plugging in an external monitor causes a crash. This will be a deal-killer for me.

Blathering on:
More details when I finish. I tried Silverzero's method and got stuck at cp OSInstall.mpeg - the usb drive was read-only. Would love it if there were a little more explanation of WHY I'm doing each step - but thanks anyway, I read through it several times!

I got the S10-2 because I liked the keyboard and trackpad better than the S10 (and because of the Lenovo deal!). I intend to use this machine as a portable iPhone dev environment and iTunes client and leave my Macbook at home; I've got an Aspire One (A150) which works okay, but I like to swap hard drives and I thought maybe the Lenovo would work better. Would have loved the HP, but components are also hard to swap and I tried an install on a 1030 and couldn't get it to work (might have been the cpus=1 there too!). Seems like we're having a netbook explosion at the moment, Fry's has a whole row of them and nearly all of them have access panels on the bottom (what sold me on the S10).

rocksteadyspidey - mine does that too. I did install a USBfamily kext but it took a couple of reboots and only worked once. I find it if i plug in a USB when i boot i can use the USB slot. Not sure if its the same problem or not

justfred - how did you get sleep to work i've tried a couple of kext but no luck

Fred,
Good post! I've tried a few different install methods and my most successful install was with MSIWindOSX.iso. Of course, one software update to 10.5.7 and it was all over - reboot loop. (Looks like I can beat that with silverzero's clues on this thread) I wish this would go as easy as the Dell Mini9 I did for a friend a few months ago.

SilverZero,
Is there a definitive guide anywhere for installing OSX on the S10-2? I'm giving up on the dual boot for now. For now, I just want to make this WORK. I've seen a few guidelnes for the S10 and a search on the forum hasn't yielded much. I can't seem to plug "S10-2" as a search term, so I've been working my way through the OSX threads. Has anyone compiled a list of kext files to install for the S10-2 hardware components?

I've finally got a multi boot S10-2 working(OSX 10.5.7, WinXP, Win7), still haven't figured out the OSX sound issue and haven't played around with Win7 too much yet but it appears to be working.

I used a retail version of 10.5.6 on a USB built from SilverZero's all USB directions. I tried a couple 8GB sticks but kept taking them back as every brand only had about 7.5GB and TransMac kept telling me they were too small to copy the image to. Found a 16Gb on sale, once I got the bigger stick I was able to make my OSX image without a problem. Trying the all USB method the sound worked for a second till the computer froze, knowing what I understand now I should have tried that again to see if I could get it to work instead of starting over with a different method.

I pretty much followed SilverZero's multi boot guide but used the OSX USB stick I built from his all USB method.

Thanks for all the great guides and support!! Would not have gotten this far or even thought of doing it without all the good info on this board.

How did you re-install Chameleon ? I have both OSX 10.5.6 and Windows 7 installed, but Windows 7 is now the default "boot" device, and I'm having a hard time re-installing Chameleon....

Edit: Never mind, found the section on using PartMagic to make the OSX partition "boot" again, everything is cool now...

I'm trying again, and again having little luck with the standard methods. About ready to put this thing back in the box and send it home.

Last one I tried was "Streamlined OSX 10.5.6/S10 Installer" viewtopic.php?f=33&t=2760
Couldn't get it to finish, gave up again and redid ideneb. I did discover that my DVD is 10.5.early, remove System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMBIOS.kext seemed to help some?

Does anyone have an external monitor working yet? Even on 10.5.6 this seems to freeze. If so, what drivers/install are you using?

Sound drivers aren't working yet, I tried VoodooHDA-2.1.

And closing the cover puts the machine to sleep, but it reboots instead of waking up.

So I haven't really fixed anything, just reran to show I could do it, and tried to minimize extra steps.

Here's my latest notes, I may have missed something in my thrashing:
ideneb install (with boot as necessary, and created a lenovo folder with all the other files I'd need).
(restart) -v -x cpus=1
(enter registration info)
(copy lenovo folder to hd)
(put terminal in dock)
Wi-fi enabler:
"bcm43xx_enabler 2.sh"
vim /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
<string>cpus=1</string>
(restart) -x
DellEFI (didn't seem to work)
Chameleon
(GMA950) AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and Natit.kext BUT NOT AppleIntelGMA950.kext
(some other stuff)
(restart)
apple 10.5.7 update from Software Updates
couple of reboots later and it seems to be working, sort of.
(reinstall) Wi-fi enabler:
"bcm43xx_enabler 2.sh"
(reinstall) (GMA950) AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext and Natit.kext BUT NOT AppleIntelGMA950.kext
