VLC Media Player not working

Does anyone have problems running VLC media player? When I try to run mine it doesn't do anything when I click it.

try downloading it again and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work try opening a movie file by right clicking it then open with, if vlc isn't in the list click other... then select it from the applications pane. hopefully that will get it going.

I also could not get VLC to work =/
I just reinstalled the app. Launching the app from the app folder doesn't work and right clicking on the video file and opening with vlc doesn't work...wtf?
I can see the hdd activity light flickering like its gonna launch, but i never does.

Try a reinstall mine is working great only thing is if I leave a video file on desktop it takes on that stupid hat ICON, you can stop this from happening just takes some tweaking, VLC is a pretty good player though.

If you can't get VLC working, why not use SMplayer, which is a front end with Mplayer. It also plays most files.

Downgraded to 8.6d. works fine now.

this post is already old, I still want to give my own thought with regards to the matter. VLC is a powerful media player playing most of the media. It doesn't work properly because of some security. for more details check this link !!

sorry but the site you linked looks very strange (pictures have very serious artifacts) - I don't want to imply this is a scamming site but I'd recommend everybody to use the official VLC homepage at
