s10 Win7 upgrade - do BIOS upgrade first?

Postby ggeinec » Sun Dec 04, 2011 5:37 pm

I am preparing to install Windows 7 Home Premium on my s10. I plan to do a clean install using a Win7 upgrade CD in an external CD drive.

My s10 currently has its original BIOS - 14CN57WW. Should I upgrade to the latest BIOS (14CN94WW) before the upgrade? Is there another BIOS that is better than this latest one?

Any other tips or advice before I start the upgrade to Win7?

Thanks!

Here are the changes for the 14CN94WW BIOS. You can determine yourself if the updated is needed.

- (New) Support Computrace.
- (New) Support Hojy TD688 TD-SCDMA WWAN card.
- (New) Support thermal protection on 90 degree using thermal sensor alarm.
- (New) Support LAN boot hotkey F10.
- (New) Support SVP checking on boot menu.
- (New) Support battery first used date. (for Panasonic battery only)
- (Fix) Update Audio codec Verb table.
- (Fix) Fix the issue HDD not properly spin down if BIOS setup SATA set to
compatible mode.
- (Fix) Fix redundant WLAN key on Fn+F4.

It does seem this is the lastest BIOS. As for the Windows 7 install...it should go very smoothly.
