Windows XP won't wake up

My S10 (windows XP installed) suddenly stopped waking up when I open the display. Everything was working fine, I have it set to go to sleep when I close the lid, (which it does) but when I open it back up, the hard drive activity light flashes for a min or two and then nothing. I have to hold down the power button to turn it off and restart. No new software has been installed, but I do have windows update to install automatically. Has anyone else seen this problem or have any ideas where to look?
