Mandriva 2010. Wireless NIC support is flawless, but the *wired* NIC driver only lets me upload a small amount before hanging. 2010 uses the 2.6.31 kernel and the Broadcom STA linux drivers don't build/install on this version (as of a couple months ago). When I pinged the open source driver guys they said the low power bcom chips wern't going to be supported for "a while"... so what are y'all running?

audio - fine
compiz - fine
usb kbd/mouse - fine
suspend - occasional black screen when closing/opening lid but flawless via Fn F2

That's good to know. I was underwhelmed by the Mandriva LiveCD (USB), in that it failed to boot altogether. But I'll give it a full install to see how it goes.

Xubuntu 10.04

All working.

However, I get this issue once in a while that the system freezes for a split second. It is random so I am not really sure if it is my system or the distro. Only thing I noticed is that conky is showing that the temp is 50+ celsius all the time and I hear the fan all the time.

Wondering if someone is also experiencing this.

Using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx (gnome, not xfce) and conky shows the CPU temp. hovering around the 45 degree mark. I have an SSD installed and it has run cooler since as the SSD kicks out no heat. So 50 degrees sounds ok to me. My fan doesn't come on until around 55/60 though. Have you got the latest BIOS as some earlier ones had issues with fan management. I'm on 94 I think.

You might be right. My s10 is using a hard drive so that may contribute to the heat.

What is the latest BIOS? I checked and mine is 14CN96NWW (as far as I remember).

that's more up to date than mine... weird. Do you have it on your lap the whole time with the front vents blocked? Maybe that isn't helping.

Is 96 the latest. I checked the thread for the latest drivers and it indicates that the 94 is the latest. I actually downloaded it and then installed. My BIOS is now at 94 and the same thing is happening.

I use this S10 on my lap most of the time so that might be it. I would need to further test it in Windows and see if there are any difference.

Thank!
