BUT!! I want to use my Blueant Headset for VOIP and for music. It doesn't look like this module handles Handsfree, Headset, A2DP, or AVRCP Profiles??? My Thinkpad does!

According to Broadcom, it does support A2DP:

http://www.broadcom.com/collateral/pb/2046-PB04-R.pdf

"By using Broadcom’s proprietary packet prioritization scheme, the BCM2046 is the industry's first Bluetooth product that is capable of
supporting two simultaneous A2DP applications"

So...umm....go nuts!

I failed to notice that that "cheap" card from virtualvillage, if you check the zoomed in pictures, ALSO has T60H928 rev 1 stamped on it.

http://images.virtualvillage.com/006416-009/002.jpg

Specs-wise, we may actually be looking at the exact same card!

T60H928 rev 1 i think it's the circuit board model or something with a different BT chip on it from boardcom.
As for S10 the chip on it should be BCM92045 which support some kinda new BT tech that it doesnt require device have to be in line of sight, and so far the cheapest i found is about 60 to 70 bucks on this one, and it's freaking rare.
the Acer model has the same T60H928 rev 1 but with an older version BT chip and u can probably find it anywhere around ebay or some online shops
for about 25 bucks including the cable.
But as that being said, since it's the same circuit board design the pins and the size should fit perfectly into the BT slot in lenovo. if you compare the 2 screw holes left on the sides of the two modules (acer and lenovo taken from stripped chinese model) it match up perfectly.
And as far as i know two chips does require different dirver from boardcom

FWIW ... at this link from the Lenovo S10 FCC application at bloqeee.net: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blogeee.net%2F2008%2F08%2F19%2Fdissection-du-lenovo-ideapad-s10%2F&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=fr&tl=en
They show a BCM2046 chip on the BCM92046NMD BT module ...
Specs on BCM2046 chip here: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth/Bluetooth-RF-Silicon-and-Software-Solutions/BCM2046
and here: http://www.broadcom.com/collateral/pb/2046-PB04-R.pdf
Supports up to 2 simultaneous A2DP applications

This lenovo document also specifies that the BCM92046NMD Bluetooth transmitter module is the one used:
http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:i9ozKS0VtvAJ:consumersupport.lenovo.com/SiteServer_Redirect.aspx%3Fdownload%3DTrue%26publishmentSystemID%3D1158%26contentID%3D1059+bcm92046nmd&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us&client=firefox-a

This link has a low cost module with the same form factor but with a BCM2045 chip:
http://www.virtualvillage.com/items/item.aspx?itemid=4726562&utm_source=baseusa&utm_medium=shopping&CAWELAID=204879646
specs on BCM2045 here: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth/Bluetooth-RF-Silicon-and-Software-Solutions/BCM2045
and here: http://www.broadcom.com/collateral/pb/2045-PB03-R.pdf
... has 3db less xmit power capability
... has 2db less receiver sensitivity
... no mention of A2DP capability

... looks like the BCM2046 chip is necessary if you want A2DP. The S10 is probably coded to look for the A2DP hooks of the BCM2046. It may not work at all with a BCM2045. It's a good bet that A2DP won't work with a BCM2045

I have located some of the tiny BT dongles that use the BCM2046, but so far have not found an internal module with the proper form factor and the BCM2046.

I can't find the BCM2046 module anywhere, so given the price of the BCM2045, I'm leaning towards getting that one instead. A2DP isn't critical for me. I just need it to sync with a BT mouse and cell phone. Plus $25 won't break the bank.

The problem I'm finding is that most BCM2045 modules are being shipped out of China. It will take a couple of weeks for delivery.

'It's good to have a guinea pig ...

A2DP is not important to me either, so maybe the BCM2045 will work. It looks like it might, but the Lenovo driver is probably for the BCM2046 and may not work with the BCM2045. You will know soon.

My wife doesn't care about BT, and my black S10 is still in process, so you and maybe some others will already have tried a few options before I even get mine ...

Thanks!

Me neither ...

Ya know ... that might explain why none of the USA S10's have BT yet ... Could be the modules are so new that they are scarce, and Lenovo could not get enough of them to ship to the US market.

The asian S10's might have a different BT module .... they don't have to use the same one that was submitted to the FCC for certification ...

Just a thought ...

Mine is an asian version..i'm located here in the philippines. The bluetooth adapter that came built in is a broadcom 2046 bluetooth 2.1... and a bluetooth bus enumerator is installed as stated in the device manager. I'm using Windows Vista by the way :)

Thanks for the response ... ! If you have a chance, it would be good to know the exact BT module part number used in the asian model.
That sounds like it may be the same one submitted to the FCC ... Maybe there was a hangup getting that module approved in the US ... Who knows ...

Really makes no marketing sense not to have BT in the US ...
